3 Ways Edit Orders’ “New Order” option can help your store

Edit Order for Shopify not only allows you to modify your existing orders in ways beyond those provided through Shopify, it also allows you to create new orders in which you can, specify your channel source, customize line items and customize order attributes. You can use Edit Order to create any orders that you need and it’s especially useful when taking orders by phone or email.

Once you begin a new order using Edit Order you will be directed to this page.

Here, you can create new orders as usual. However, you will also have the ability to make customizations and personalizations to your orders in ways you can only do with Edit Order. Using Edit Order’s New Order option as opposed to the built-in option provided by Shopify, opens the possibilities to doing things like, customizing your channel source, adding line item properties, and customizing order attributes. You can do more while entering orders so that you don’t have to worry during fulfillment time.

1. Customize your channel source

Have you ever wanted to review your sales reports for specifically your phone orders or orders conducted over email? When you start that process, it would be helpful to have a way to filter phone orders and email orders separating them from all other orders. Using Edit Order for Shopify allows you to do that by customizing the channel source for your orders. You have the option to label your orders as phone, email, in store, online, wholesale or any other specification.

How to: Once you are on Edit Order’s New Order page, you will see Order Options on the right hand side. Go to Channel Source and choose the channel you want to assign to the order from the list of options.

2. Quickly enter custom line item attributes

What if your items require special properties such as color, a monogram, or even names? Edit Order allows you to add these properties and any other properties you want in order to differentiate each individual item from each other.

How to: Customize line item attributes by looking under the item’s SKU and clicking Add Line Item Property, once you click that option two different fields will appear where you can add the attributes’ labels and values.

3. Customize order attributes

Order Attributes are a powerful but simple way of noting additional instructions such as special handling instructions for fragile items or perishable food or requested delivery dates. Adding a note to an order is a great way to make sure items are received by the customer the way they are supposed to be received.

To add an order attribute, scroll beneath transaction history in your order you can enter a Label for your attribute and describe that attribute by entering in the next text box Description.
