twopointoh, a creative and digital marketing agency, was helping a high-end skincare brand to further scale its consistently growing business and help make backend order entry more efficient. The twopointoh team helped the merchant transition from WooCommerce to Shopify and built their site with robust wholesale functionality.

But even after migration to Shopify, selling bundled products to wholesale customers continued to be a challenge.

Time-consuming manual process to switch SKUs for bundles

When a customer orders a bundle of products, the SKU for that bundle is added to the order. To fulfill the order, that SKU needs to be replaced with the individual SKUs of each of the products in the order so that the warehouse team can see which products to include in the shipment. Replacing the SKUs had to be done manually by one of the merchant’s team members, who would also then have to adjust the price of those items to reflect the bundle discount. Having to go through this manual process took extra man hours and left the process open to more risk of human error.

twopointoh looked for solutions from other Shopify bundling apps but didn’t find any that worked with Shopify’s back end and could integrate with draft orders — a big requirement since about half of the merchant’s sales go through draft orders. Having already seen that Edit Order worked well with both the front and back end of Shopify, twopointoh reached out to the Edit Order team to see if we had a solution.

Customized automation, saving time and increasing accuracy in order fulfillment

The merchant is one of our Premium Plan customers, who are eligible for custom modifications to meet their business needs. We created a custom solution for them that would automate the process of switching the SKUs. Now, when a bundle is added to an order, Edit Order recognizes the SKU and automatically replaces it with the SKUs for individual products from that bundle and applies the appropriate discounted price.
